(Teen coming-of-age movie)

At last, an intelligent teen coming-of-age movie.

Nat Wolff stars as Quentin, a slightly nerdy high school senior who is infatuated with his next-door neighbor, Margo (Cara Delevingne), a free spirited, rebellious girl. They were close friends when they were young, but Margo drifted toward the in-crowd and Quentin picked up a couple of nerdy friends.

One night Margo climbed through Quentin’s bedroom window and led him on an unusual adventure, as she gained revenge on her boyfriend and people she thought were her friends.

The next day Margo disappears, supposedly leaving clues for Quentin to follow. Quentin corrects Margo’s cold-as-ace parents by explaining that Margo is “gone,” not “missing.”

What follows is a road trip by Quentin and five teen friends from their home in Orlando to a “paper town” in upstate New York. A paper town, we learn, is a town that no longer exists but is still on the map.

Along the way, the teens may not find Margo, but they do find themselves, making for a more intelligent, caring, coming-of-age story than we usually find in this genre.

There’s a bit of a twist at the end, which sums up a movie that we would strongly recommend for mature teens.

Rated PG-13, with a few curse words and sexual references.
