The Roger Williams University five in recent times have been stuck in a rut, losing their last six in a row, but one bright spot during the Hawks’ ongoing dry spell has been Hendricken product Ryan Palumbo.

The senior guard currently leads RWU in assists (79), steals (54) and points per game (11.5), while reaching double-figures in 14 of the team’s 21 games to date.

Palumbo’s most complete performance since the calendar turned to 2015 came in Roger Williams’ January 20 contest against Gordon, a 66-61 defeat that started the Hawks’ current skid.

He chalked up 18 points to go with seven assists and nine steals, the latter a new personal best.

More recently, Palumbo led all Hawk scorers with 14 points in RWU’s 68-57 setback at the hands of Eastern Nazarene on February 3.

Two games remain in the regular season for Palumbo and Roger Williams.

The Hawks will play at Gordon tonight, before Palumbo takes to the home hardwood one final time against the University of New England on Saturday.

Former Pats shine at RIC

Former Pilgrim standout and current Rhode Island College athlete Destinee Barrette came in ninth place in the weight throw at the Scarlet and White Invitational on Saturday with an effort of 14.97 meters...Ex-Patriot swimmer Taylor Ryan won the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke events in Rhode Island College’s January 30 meet against Eastern Connecticut, one in which the Anchorwomen were bested by the Warriors 76-54.
