In honor of Veterans Day, Pilgrim High School celebrated the occasion Tuesday morning with an event called Patriots Honoring Patriots. The celebration is to recognize the dedication and commitment of men and women who have served or are serving in any branch of the armed forces. The school also used the opportunity to give back to the armed forces through the Jeans for Troops campaign. “Former Pilgrim Principal Marie Cote worked so hard to ensure students learned a simple life lesson but a very important one that ‘we are bigger than ourselves,’” said Pamela Bernardi, interim principal. “With that mindset, Pilgrim student leaders, comprised of juniors and seniors, have worked for the past three years on community projects such as this. All members of the Pilgrim community have been asked to wear blue jeans to school today and make a donation. All proceeds will go to the GI GO Fund, which helps members of the armed forces with funding housing, health care, education and finding employment.” Fourteen members of various branches of the armed forces, both active and retired, attended Tuesday’s celebration.
