The Pilgrim softball team moved to 3-0 with a 2-1 win on Wednesday against Cranston East at the Brayton Avenue Softball Complex.

The Pats were led by pitcher Morgan Almon, who tossed a complete-game one-hitter. The win moved Almon to 2-0 on the season. Ellen McDonnell registered the other win in the circle for Pilgrim.

Freshman Karly Evans drove in the winning run in the top of the fourth, as Almon was able to hold off the ’Bolts in the late innings.

Pilgrim has had a complete team effort thus far, as 13 different players have driven in a run over the first three games, and 12 have scored a run.

Madison Balutowski is leading the way at the plate, as she currently obtains a .500 average, with five RBI and a home run. Tayla Ferreira has a team-high seven RBI with a .400 average, while Evans is 4-for-7 with four RBI.

Titans fall to 0-3

The Titans raced out to a 3-0 lead against Cranston West on Wednesday, but the Falcons rallied for five runs in the third and four runs in the fourth, en route to a 14-4 victory over Toll Gate.

Jenna Palmer earned the win for the Falcons, while Courtney Marsh took the loss for the Titans.

That dropped the Titans to 0-2 on the season, before they fell at East Providence, 12-1, on Sunday.

Toll Gate was in search of its first win on Monday at La Salle, but results were unavailable at press time.

’Canes sit at 1-1

The Warwick Vets softball team earned their first win of the season last Monday against South Kingstown, 13-0.

The ’Canes were paced by second baseman Natasha Savage, who cleared the bases with a grand slam, and also drove in two more with a double.

Kayla Morin earned her first win of the season, shutting down the Rebels, allowing just four hits.

Vets will be back in action today at Narragansett at 4 p.m.
