A great showing by both teams in a show of increased skill by very new programs. It was also great to see the many handshakes, hugs, and reunions between old friends in the stands. Friendship built on living in the same city, working together, and playing together, not based on which uniform the student athlete that day was wearing. That being said, I am ashamed to have witnessed something yelled by one of my alma mater's fans. After one of our players, rightfully received a penalty for inadvertently causing an injury to a Vets player, I was shocked to hear a mother (yes a mother) yell to "do it harder next time and make it worth it". I could not have been more ashamed to be on my side of the stands. Please parents and fans, come to cheer on your kids, ring your bells, blow your horns, smile and shake old friend's hands, but leave your leave your ignorant and hateful behavior at home (MH).
