Pats top Titans, win streak at four

Pilgrim out-lasted cross-town rival Toll Gate 58-53 on Wednesday night, part of a big week for the suddenly scorching Patriots. They’ve won four games in a row, and six of seven since a loss to Warwick Vets on Jan. 7. Pilgrim is now 6-3 and sitting in first place in Division III-Central, a half-game ahead of Juanita Sanchez.

The Pats used a late first-half run to take command against Toll Gate. The Titans out-scored them by seven after the break but Pilgrim had enough to hold on for its third victory in a row. Ryan Morris scored 23 points and Letrelle Johnson chipped in 17, with three three-pointers. Toll Gate was led by Zach Bacon’s 17 points.

Pilgrim stretched the streak to four with a 61-44 victory over winless Ponaganset on Friday. Chris Duchesneau buried five three-pointers and racked up a game-high 25 points. Morris added 12 and Blake Doelling chipped in 11.

Pilgrim was scheduled to face unbeaten East Greenwich on Monday, but that game was postponed due to snow.
