Warwick defeated the North Kingstown Jaguars, 27-6, for the 2015 state championship on Sunday, Nov. 15.

The game was tied at zero until late in the second half when Warwick quarterback Connor Widmer threw a 10-yard touchdown strike to wide receiver Tyler Brown. The second half was all Warwick, as the veteran line led by Brown, Matthew Santos, Dylan Lamoureux, Andrew Fusco, Marcus Sukkar, Xavier Johnson and Cullen McGrew opened up huge holes for running back Teighan Jeremy, who rushed for three touchdowns and well over 100 yards in the second half alone.

The defensive efforts were led by Marcus Carpenter, Jared Carpenter, Brady Burke and Daniel Halliwell. They did a tremendous job, holding the Jaguars to only six points in the game. The defense was tough all year long, allowing on average 5.6 points per game.

“This was a total team effort, the kids have been working extremely hard since Aug. 1,” Warwick head coach Brian Widmer said. “A lot of people do not understand the sacrifices that these kids make in order to compete at this level. Today they earned the right to be called ‘State Champions.’
