Penelope E. (Hahn) Spellman, 71, of Warwick, RI, died on Thursday February 12, 2015 surrounded by the love of family and friends at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center.

Born on February 10th, 1944 in Wheaton, Illinois, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Elsa (Sontag) Hahn. She was raised in Illinois, moved to North Babylon, New York in 1967 before settling in Rhode Island in the early 1970's. Penny was an excellent seamstress, she made many things from clothes to stuffed animals and anything in between. Penny worked for many years as the manager of the Fabric & Crafts department at Ames Department Stores before retiring in 2002. Penny was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan.

Penny leaves behind six children; Deborah Cabral & her husband, Jay of Warwick, Michael Denson of West Warwick, Ronald Denson and wife, Kimberly of Warwick, Kathleen Medeiros and her husband, Doug of Warwick, Matthew Denson and his wife, Regina of Coventry and Suzanne Fernandes and her husband, Chris of Coventry; 13 grandchildren: Phylicia Denson, Christopher Denson, Johnathon Medeiros, Ryan Cabral, Nicholas Cabral, Alyssa Medeiros, Ronald Denson, Stephen Cabral, Katelyn Medeiros, Jacob Fernandes, Dayne Denson, Nathan Fernandes and Kyle Denson. She is also survived by her sister Janet Kotek and her husband, Dennis of North Carolina. Penny was predeceased by her companion Frank DeBellis; her sister Lucille Buchholz and brothers Richard Hahn and Phillip Hahn. She was the former wife of the late Richard Denson

A celebration of Penny's life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Spring Green Memorial Baptist Church, 1350 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.Burial will be private.
