Pilgrim cheerleaders place third at states, compete at regionals

Posted

The Pilgrim High School cheerleaders won third place at the R.I. Cheerleading & Coaches Association (RICCA) championships held on March 1, while also taking third place at the R.I. Interscholastic League state tournament held on March 8. The state tournament allowed them to compete at regionals, which was held in Lawrence, Mass. on Saturday.

Unfortunately, Pilgrim did not place, but just the fact that it made it that far was a significant accomplishment.

Pilgrim had a relatively young team under second-year coach Courtney DeSousa, with four of the 11 girls being freshmen.

This was the first time in nine years that Pilgrim was able to compete at regionals.
