Pilgrim senior Katelyn Vieira has been named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s Rhode Island State Player of the Year.

In addition to that honor, Vieira was one of 44 players named to NSCAA’s All-American team. She was one of only 10 players from New England that was tabbed an All-American.

Vieira’s 47 goals led the state this season and was 17 more than the second-highest goal scorer. Her 65 points was also tops in the state by 24.

She scored a goal in last month’s Division II state championship to lift the Patriots to a 2-0 win over top-seeded Coventry and had two goals in the semifinals.

The title was Pilgrim’s third in school history and first since winning the D-I crown in 2000.
