LOST PHONE

Officer Timothy Tavares was dispatched to Ansonia Road at approximately 4:30 p.m. on April 25 for the report of a larceny. Tavares met with a man, who said he lost his iPhone 6 in the Lowe’s located at 555 Greenwich Avenue sometime between 1 and 2 p.m. on April 25. He said when he noticed the phone was gone, he used another person’s “Find my iPhone” application but his phone was already disconnected. He told Tavares he alerted customer service and searched the store for his phone but was unsuccessful. He said he did not know where or how he misplaced his phone. Tavares said Lowe’s did not have any surveillance footage of the man dropping or misplacing his phone during his visit. No suspects.

BROKEN WINDOW

Officer Mark Jandreau responded to Elmwood Avenue at approximately 8:20 a.m. on April 22 for the report of a malicious damage. Upon arrival, Jandreau met with the reporting party, who advised that earlier that morning at 6:30, he came into work and noticed the side window was broken but it had been fine the day before. He said someone was there until 3:30 p.m. the previous day and the window was fine. Jandreau said he observed the double-paned window on the D side of the building was broken. The offense report was taken to document the damage for insurance purposes. No suspects.

TOOLS TAKEN

Officer Eric Lima was dispatched to a residence on Knight Street at approximately 8:52 p.m. on April 21 for the report of a larceny from a vehicle. Lima met with the reporting party, who advised that the night of April 20, a glass jar that had contained car led lights (approximate value of $10), which had been previously located inside of his vehicle, had been found empty on the vehicle’s front driver side floor with the lid being found on the top of the vehicle. At that time, the man said he didn’t think anything of it and threw the lid back in the vehicle. The man then said on April 21, at approximately 8 p.m., he went to retrieve his work tools out of his vehicle and noticed his Craftsman battery-powered impact gun (valued at $197.40) was missing, along with a breaker bar (valued at $30). After checking every other vehicle, the man said a few sockets and a Craftsman 3/8-inch drive ratchet (with an approximate total value of $50) had also been taken from the interior of a second vehicle. Lima said it should be noted that the man left both vehicles unlocked. The man said if the suspect were to be found and identified, he wished to file a complaint. No suspects.

DENTED CAR

Officer Javier Cabreja was dispatched to Chambly Avenue at approximately 9:20 a.m. on April 18 for the report of a malicious damage to a vehicle. Cabreja met with the reporting party, who said he last saw his father’s Jeep parked in the driveway with no damage at approximately 11 p.m. on April 17. He said he went to bed and woke up at 7 a.m. in an attempt to take the vehicle and purchase gas when he noticed a dent on the rear driver side door, apparently caused by a rock that was laying on the lawn at the residence. Cabreja said the man’s father was present but due to the language barrier and his inability to communicate in English, his son filled out the written statement on his behalf. He told Cabreja his father wished to press charges. Cabreja said the men told him they do not have a suspect in mind and they did not see anyone commit the crime, however they were adamant about pressing charges. Cabreja said he walked around the neighborhood and observed nearby vehicles in the area but no other vehicles in close proximity to Chambly Ave. were damaged. No suspects.

SHOPLIFTING

Officer Sokphannareth Chea was dispatched to the Stop & Shop at 300 Quaker Lane at 7:27 p.m. on April 26, along with two additional officers and a sergeant, for a shoplifting in progress. Chea said officers were advised by Dispatch that a male in his 40s, wearing black pants, black jacket, and a blue baseball hat was running toward the Christmas Tree Shop. The man took a carriage filled with items and walked out the door, although Stop & Shop was able to retrieve the items. Upon arrival, Chea said the sergeant, canine officer and an additional officer responded to the last location the male subject was seen, while he spoke with a loss prevention associate. Chea said the woman told him she witnessed an older man, in his 40s to 50s, leave the Stop & Shop produce section and exit the store at approximately 7:33 p.m. with a carriage full of groceries without paying for the merchandise. She said the man had a baseball cap, black pants, black jeans, and a red shirt with a stripe. She said the merchandise was valued at $125.50. The woman said she approached the man and identified herself has store security but said the suspect refused to come back inside the building and ran into the woods beside Party City. She said the store would like to press charges and provided Chea with surveillance footage and a receipt for the items. Chea said the suspect was unable to be located and identified and the report is pending further investigation and was forwarded to the Detectives Division.
