LOST PURSE

Officer Timothy Lipka met with a woman, who responded to Warwick Police Department Headquarters at approximately 2:53 p.m. on July 10 in reference to a larceny of her purse. The woman said she was at Haxton’s Tollgate Liquors, 1123 Bald Hill Road, at 12:15 p.m. that day. She said purchased some items from the store and left her purse in the shopping cart and left the store. Shortly after, she returned to Haxton’s to find the strap to her purse, however the purse was missing. She checked with store personnel, who said they did not locate a purse and nothing had been turned in. The woman described her purse as a small wristlet purse, color tan, containing her R.I. driver’s license, two credit cards, and $220 in cash. She said she did not wish to press charges, however she wished to file a report. She told Lipka that she canceled to the two credit cards.

KEYED UP

Officer Mark Jandreau was dispatched to Chambly Avenue at approximately 8:56 a.m. on July 9 for the report of a malicious damage. Upon arrival, Jandreau met with a man, who said he had parked his vehicle in front of his house on Chambly Ave. the previous night. When he got up the next morning and saw his vehicle, he said it had been keyed all the way around the vehicle. Jandreau said he looked at the vehicle and observed it had been keyed all the way around (both passenger’s and driver’s sides). Jandreau subsequently took an offense report to document the damage and advised the man to contact his insurance company. No suspects.

DAMAGED WINDOWS

Officer Paul White responded to Warwick Avenue at approximately 1:17 p.m. on July 9 for damage to two windows. Upon arrival, White spoke to the reporting party, who said on July 8 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. someone damaged a wind out window on the front of his house. The man said he was sure it happened during those hours because that was the only time he wasn’t home. On July 9 he said he went out between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and came home to find another wind out window on the front of his house damaged. He told White he was sure it was new because the thoroughly checked his house the day before. White said he observed the damaged windows and found it to be consistent with being shot by a BB. Whit said the BB broke the outside pane of each window, but only cracked the inside pane. White said he checked the ground but was unable to locate the BB. The report was forwarded to detectives for follow-up. No suspects.

MISSING MEDICATION

Officer Mark Jandreau responded to Irving Road at approximately 1:55 p.m. on July 9 for the report of a larceny of prescription medication. Upon arrival, Jandreau met with a woman, who said she was at Conimicut Point Park, at 2 Point Ave., with her friend and went for a walk on the beach. She said she left her car unlocked and had left her purse in the car, which she said she generally never does. She said when she came back; she noticed money was missing from her billfold and that her prescription was gone, along with a car charger, as well. Jandreau said he completed an offense report, gave it to the woman and advised her to give it to her doctor to have another prescription issued for her medication. No suspects.

SIGNS STOLEN

Officer Mitchel Voyer responded to the lobby of Warwick Police Headquarters at approximately 4:45 p.m. on July 9 to meet with the subject in regard to a larceny. Upon arrival, Voyer met with a man, who said he was the owner of the Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt franchise location at 300 Quaker Lane and that the store closed down a few months ago. He told Voyer all of the large neon signs were stolen from the business location. He said one of the signs was described as a large neon sign stating “Menchie’s” and it had been on the roof of the building. He said there were two small lighted signs in the front of the store and then two small signs on the clock tower on the entrance to the shopping center. He said the signs were last observed in place on July 2 and that they discovered them missing on July 6. The man said he wished to file a complaint and provided a written statement. The man also said he checked with a couple of businesses in the area, who advised him they did not see anything suspicious or unusual that weekend. Voyer said the man provided him with a copy of a sales agreement showing his business purchasing the signs, which was given to records. Voyer said the total value on the sales agreement was $8,710. The case was forwarded to Detectives.

SHOPLIFTING

Officer Tammy Mello was dispatched to the Kent Hospital at 455 Toll Gate Road at approximately 1:05 p.m. on July 14 in reference to a female in custody for shoplifting. Upon arrival, Mello spoke with the reporting party and manager of the Hospitality Shop, who said she witnessed a female, later identified as Mary Pelosi, 57, of 1788 Main Street, Apt. 1, West Warwick, placing several pieces of jewelry into her handbag. The manager told Mello at the time, the woman was standing at the counter and that she did purchase a rug; however, she left the gift shop without paying for the jewelry, which she concealed in her bag. At that time, the manager said she contacted hospital security and the woman was stopped outside the gift shop doors. Mello said security was able to recover the following items: a pair of gypsy earrings valued at $20; a pair of sea urchin earrings valued at $26; partners in health bracelet valued at $11.99; a water bracelet valued at $11.99; lunchbox bracelet valued at $11.99; a best friends bracelet valued at $11.99; V Day bracelet valued at $11.99; sea heart necklace valued at $32; sea seek necklace valued at $36; and a sea shine necklace valued at $32, for a total value of $217.94 of shoplifted merchandise. Mello then took Pelosi into custody and transported her to Warwick Police Department Headquarters, where she was fingerprinted and photographed. Pelosi was charged with one count of Shoplifting and later released with a Third District Court summons.
