Two indicted in robbery

of 75-year-old

A man and woman have been indicted in the August robbery of a 75-year-old woman outside a Johnston supermarket.

Matthew Daignault, 33, and Kayla Couture, 27, both of 56 Parkside Drive in Providence, are each charged with one count of first-degree robbery, one count of conspiracy, one count of fraudulent use of a credit card, and one count of assault of a person over the age of 60. They are slated to appear for arraignment in Providence County Superior Court on Nov. 18.

Shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 19, Johnston officers responded to the parking lot of the Stop & Shop on Commerce Way for a report of a robbery. The victim told police she was attacked while walking into the supermarket, and that the perpetrator – described as a white male – had taken her pocketbook before fleeing the scene in a waiting vehicle.

The victim was injured in the incident, and was later released after treatment at a local hospital.

Johnston police credited assistance from the community via social media with helping to quickly identify the suspects.

Suspect sought in

robbery, shooting

A Johnston man is wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting at a Providence gold shop last month.

A warrant has been issued for Reginald “Reggie” Isom, 21, on charges of first-degree robbery and conspiracy, according to police.

He is described as a light-skinned black male standing approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall, and weighing 140 pounds with a slim build.

Police said Isom, who had a previous address in East Providence, should be considered armed and dangerous.

The robbery occurred at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 23 at Capital Gold, located at 522 Smith St. in Providence. The owner of the business was shot during the incident, and reportedly remained hospitalized in serious condition.

Two other suspects – Leroy Dorsey, 20, of Providence, and Andrew McLean, 23, of Woonsocket – have already been arrested in connection with the robbery.

Anyone with information regarding Isom’s location is asked to contact Providence Detective Sgt. Timothy McGann at 243-6236.

Woman charged with

assault, disorderly conduct

Patrolman Derrick Palazzo reports responding to the Morgan Health Center at approximately 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 31 for a report of an unruly visitor.

Palazzo writes in his narrative report that the reporting party was caring for a patient when a woman arrived for a visit. The reporting party told the patrolman that woman was unhappy with the care being provided, began yelling profanities, and “repeatedly placed her hands” in the reporting party’s face. The visitor is alleged to have then “slapped [the caregiver] in the face with an open hand, causing a small laceration to [her] face.”

Palazzo writes that another nurse confirmed that account of the incident. He reports speaking with the visitor, who asserted the other party involved had struck her first.

Maria E. Tedesqui, 59, of 347 Simmonsville Ave., Apt. 211, in Johnston, was arrested and charged with simple assault or battery and disorderly conduct.
