PUNCTURED TIRES

On Dec. 13 at 12 p.m., Officer Julio Benros responded to an address on Parkside Drive for a report of malicious damage.

Upon arrival, Benros met with the victim, who reported malicious damage to his vehicle. He said he discovered the two tires on the right side of his vehicle were punctured by staples, which occurred sometime overnight on Dec. 9. He said he discovered the damage on Dec. 10, while en route to Narragansett from Warwick. Both wheels lost pressure, and upon arrival, he discovered the damage.

At the time the report was made, Benros said he observed damage to only one tire (the right rear tire), as the right front tire had already been replaced and/or repaired. It was requested that officers keep a check of the area. There were no suspects.

COUNTERFEIT BILLS

On Nov. 24 at 3:02 p.m., Officer Quentin Tavares was dispatched to the Wal-Mart at 650 Bald Hill Road for a report of a fraud in progress. Prior to Tavares’ arrival, Officer Parillo had arrived on scene. Dispatched advised that a male had attempted to pass three $100 bills, which were possibly counterfeit, and that the male was currently at the register.

Upon Tavares’ arrival, Officer Parrillo was near the Asset Protection Office with the male, later identified as Eric Green, 25, of 2732 Dewey Ave., Apt. #2C, inBronx, N.Y. A Wal-Mart Asset Protection officer told Tavares the Asset Protection manager called him over to Register #13 and advised him that it appeared that three $100 bills that were being passed by a customer appeared to be fake. After confirming the bills were counterfeit, the officer notified police. He said the customer then appeared to become and angry and wanted his money back. He was advised the money could not be returned to him, at which point he proceeded to the front of the store and was met by police. Wal-Mart personnel ran a pen through the counterfeit bills, which were shown to be fake. When Green was asked where he had obtained the money, he said he had sold a pair of sneakers and obtained the fake counterfeit bills. He said he did not realize they were counterfeit.

Sgt. Snow responded to the scene and was advised of the findings. Tavares said it should be noted that while speaking with Green and questioning him as to why he was in Rhode Island, he said he was visiting his family for Thanksgiving, but when asked where they lived, he could not provide an address or a city in Rhode Island, which appeared suspicious. Tavares said it was determined Green would be taken into custody, and when asked if he had any more counterfeit bills, he said there was one more $100 bill in his wallet, bringing the total to four $100 counterfeit bills, which were tagged as evidence.

Green was transported to Warwick Police Department headquarters, where he was fingerprinted, photographed, and processed. He was charged with one count of passing of counterfeit bills and one count of possession of counterfeit bills.

ASSAULT, DISORDERLY, RESISTING, VANDALISM

On Dec. 7 at 1:25 a.m., Officers Thomas Duncan and Keri-Ann Leighton were dispatched to Bo’s Bar and Billiards, 33 Lambert Lind Highway, for the report of a subject to eject, as there were two females being loud and unruly, giving the staff a hard time and refusing to leave.

Upon arrival, Leighton observed two females who were arguing and being very loud and disruptive with the staff. While trying to find out what was going on with the two females, one of whom was identified as Rosana Nunez, 23, of 41 Rand St. in Central Falls, there seemed to be some confusion. According to one of the staff members, there was an incident in the bathroom in which a doorknob was broken off, and there was a lot of screaming and yelling coming from inside. Security was alerted that the females were having trouble in the bathroom, with one of them locked inside while the other was screaming and crying causing a scene.

While Leighton attempted to calm Nunez, Duncan said he spoke with the other women, who said she and Nunez went out that evening and had “a little too much to drink.” She said when Nunez drinks heavily, “she gets crazy.”

Leighton said while trying to talk to Nunez, she noticed she was highly intoxicated. Due to the fact she was not listening to any verbal commands from officers, Nunez was grabbed by the arms and physically removed from the business by the officers. While doing so, Leighton said Nunez continued to yell and scream, saying, “I’ll [expletive] burn this place down.” Once outside, Nunez continued to scream, yell and cause a scene in the parking lot by using vulgar language and acting in a violent manner toward both officers. While attempting to subdue and handcuff Nunez to calm her down, Leighton said she was flailing her arms wildly and tensing up her body so officers would be unable to cuff her. During the struggle, Nunez struck Duncan and said “Go [expletive] yourself” to him. Duncan had to use OC spray on Nunez to cuff her and put her in the cruiser, at which time she began kicking the cruiser while continuing to yell and scream. After repeated warnings to stop, Nunez was told she would be charged with vandalism if she kept it up, but she continued to make vulgar comments and was again sprayed.

Leighton said it should be noted the two females were the only patrons in the restroom at the time of the vandalism to the stall door, and that Nunez was the only person in the restroom acting violently and causing a disturbance.

After Kelly responded to the scene, Nunez was taken into custody and transported to Warwick Police Department headquarters, where she was charged with simple assault, resisting legal or illegal arrest, disorderly conduct, and vandalism/malicious injury to property for the damage to the bathroom at Bo’s Billiards. Nunez was processed and later released to her mother.

Due to the fact that the other woman was cooperative and listening to instructions from police, she was not charged. Both women were trespassed from the bar.
