SHOPLIFTING
A Cranston man was arrested at the Sears store in the Rhode Island Mall and charged with felony shoplifting on Nov. 11. Security at the store told Officer Stephen Major they had video of the man selecting fragrance and clothing and concealing them before walking out of the store without paying for the goods. They said they confronted the man outside and he became aggressive and they restrained him and held him for police. William M. Platt, 52, of 44 Vinton Ave. in Cranston was charged with felony shoplifting after police learned he had three prior shoplifting arrests and convictions.
Two women were charged with shoplifting at TJ Maxx on Bald Hill Road on Nov. 14. Loss prevention agents at the store told Officer Geoffrey Waldman they recognized the women as known shoplifters when they entered the store and began to keep them under observation as they selected various items of clothing and concealed the goods in their handbags and then paid for some toys and left without paying for the concealed goods. Ivelisse Figuereo, 33, of 20 DeSoto St. in Providence was charged with misdemeanor shoplifting for $68.94 worth of goods, and Raquel Figuereo, 35, of 86 North Rd. in Richmond, was charged with a felony for shoplifting $114.95 as a habitual offender.
Officer Jason Brodeur reported going to the JC Penney store in the Warwick Mall on Nov. 15 for a shoplifting suspect being detained there. Loss prevention told Brodeur they watched the woman walk around the store with a USB mini-vacuum before she walked out of the store without paying for it. She told the store she was on her cell phone with her sister and forgot she had the item under her arm. The loss prevention people said she told them she would have taken something worth more than that $18 if she intended to steal something. Sandra M. Santagata, 55, of 4 Audrey Dr. in Johnston, was held for the bail commissioner.

LOST PROPERTY
A Warwick man came into headquarters on Nov. 10 to report that he lost a $2,000 Mac Book Pro 13 laptop at the Starbucks on Airport Road and gave a written statement:
“Was at Starbucks Warwick Airport Road at approximately 6:00 pm. Went in with my laptop bag containing my Mac laptop, various other things like gum, a book, a few pens, etc. Left without my bag. Remembered by the time I got home. Went right back, and it was gone. Left number with store. Mac Book Pro 13 with serial #C17FMCP6DH2G. Black messenger bag Swiss Army.”
Officer Eric Lima said the man told him he needed the report for insurance purposes.

VANDALS
A Greenwich Avenue man told police he left his Dodge Ram pickup parked outside his apartment on Nov. 11 and returned to it the next day and found it had been keyed from the front to the back and around, and had two flat tires. There were no witnesses or suspects.
A Perkins Street resident went to headquarters on Nov. 11 to report that he went out to his vehicle that morning and found that, sometime overnight, someone had walked or jumped around on the car, leaving footprints on the rear bumper, the hood and the roof, along with small dents indicating someone walking or jumping on the car. No suspects or witnesses.
Police were dispatched to Warner Brook Drive on Nov. 13 for a report of yet another incident of vandals. The owner of a black 2010 Lexus SUV said she was at home when a neighbor notified her that the back window of the vehicle had been smashed with some unknown object. There were no witnesses or suspects.

MISSING BIKES
Police reported a bike stolen from an address on Vickery Street on Nov. 11. The owner of the bike told police he last saw his bike when he left it in front of the house around 11:30 a.m. and when he came back around 1:30 p.m., the bike was gone. He said it was a 27-inch Mongoose 21-speed worth around $200. There were no witnesses or suspects.
A woman who lives at 725 West Shore Rd. told police she noticed that her son’s bicycle was missing from her front yard on the morning of Nov. 14 and later noticed that two other bikes that were normally kept behind her apartment building were also missing. She said her son’s bike was worth about $50 and she guessed that the other bikes were probably worth $100 each. No suspects or witnesses.

DUI AND REFUSALS
Officer Stephen Major reported he was on patrol around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 when he saw a white Dodge with Massachusetts plates traveling very near Post Road and Main Avenue. He said he fell in behind the car and clocked it at 52 mph as it wove between lanes and almost hit other vehicles. Major said he activated his siren and lights and pulled the car over at Dave’s Bar and Grill on Post Road. He said the driver appeared to be intoxicated and smelled of alcohol. He said the driver failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving. Major said Rick Cardello, 49, of 3034 W. Main St. in Alhambra, Calif., refused a breath test at headquarters. He was charged with laned roadway violations, speeding, DUI and refusal and later released on $1,000 surety bail.
