IF IT DON’T FIT…

Officer Julio Benros reported he was dispatched to 3 Jefferson Blvd. for a report of a stolen tire around 7:30 a.m. on June 1. He said he arrived to find two young men attempting to put a wheel on a blue 2001 Saturn. Benros said he learned that the man who owned the Saturn had blown a tire earlier that morning and his friend was helping him put a wheel on that some friends had brought him. Benros said another man approached him and told him that the wheel they were attempting to put on the Saturn actually was stolen from a Honda Odyssey minivan parked nearby. Benros said he also learned that the wheel they were trying to put on did not fit the Saturn and he read the owner of the Saturn his rights and told him he was being charged with receiving stolen goods. Benros said the suspect claimed that someone else stole the tire, but Benros believed it was the Saturn owner or his friends because he found the lug nuts for the wheel were in the trunk of the Saturn. With no witness to the theft, Benros charged him with receiving stolen goods. Jeremy Williams, 20, of 30 Gladstone St. in Providence was taken to headquarters and held for District Court. He was later remanded to the ACI after failing to make the $1,000 surety bail.
