CLUBS TAKEN

Officer Albert Marano reported he was on patrol around 1 a.m. on Sept. 1 when dispatch advised that two men stole a set of golf clubs from a car on Fletcher Street and were running through yards on Reynolds Avenue. He said he then heard that Sgt. Scott Robillard had caught up with the suspect and another man. Robillard told Marano one of the men already confessed that he took the clubs and that the man with him “had no idea that he was doing that.” Marano said he arrested Justin Houle, 25, of 4 Greenville Ave., North Providence, who told him he left the golf clubs he took from the car near the tennis courts at Warwick Vets High School. The golf clubs were found and returned to the owner, who said he did want to press charges. The owner told police his son told him he heard a noise outside and saw a man in his car take a $150 set of Titleist golf clubs and run away. Houle was processed and later released with a summons.

OWNING UP

Officer Aaron Kay reported that he and a number of other officers were dispatched to an accident with injuries at the I-95 North ramp on Centerville Road around 5 a.m. He said he arrived to find two females near a Chrysler 300 with minor complaints of pain and three more passengers with minor injuries. He said the operator identified herself and explained that she and her sister and her friends came up from Cape Cod to go to a club in Providence and got lost on their way back and stopped at a gas station for directions and were attempting to get back on I-95 when she lost control on the rain-covered road and slammed into the embankment. Two of the passengers were taken to Rhode Island Hospital with minor injuries. Kay said they found a small bag of marijuana and another small bag with what looked like cocaine on the floor of the car. He said he asked the driver who they belonged to and she said they were hers and hers alone. He said he asked her again at headquarters if the drugs belonged to her or someone else and she said she was taking responsibility for the drugs and no one else was involved. Naomi R.
