EASY DELIVERY

Officer William DiGiulio reported he was on patrol on West Shore Road around 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 4 when he saw a pickup truck rush to get onto Warwick Neck Avenue to beat the red light. He said he ran the plate as he watched the truck pull into the Sunoco station and learned the owner of the truck was wanted in Newport for two counts of obtaining money under false pretenses. He said he made a U-turn and went into the parking lot and spoke with the passenger in the pickup, who verified that the driver, who was inside the Dunkin Donuts, was Edward Elston, 35, of 738 Harris Ave., Woonsocket. DiGiulio said he arrested Elston and took him to headquarters, processed him and then turned him over to two Newport police officers that were attending a training seminar being held at Warwick headquarters.

WINDOW SPIKED

The manager of Spike’s Junkyard Dogs on Warwick Avenue called police on Nov. 29 to report finding six BB holes in two panels of glass at the front of the store. He said the windows were intact when he closed the store at 10 p.m. the day before. No witnesses or suspects.

LARCENIES

A Cranston woman told police someone broke the window on her Chevy Cruz to get at a Victoria’s Secret backpack ($70), a Long Champ purse ($150), and an American Eagle saddle bag ($50) and some school books worth $100 while she was watching a movie at the Showcase Cinema on Nov. 27. No suspects or witnesses.

A Kirby Avenue resident told police someone entered his yard and took one aluminum ladder and two wooden ladders worth $200 sometime between Nov. 15 and Dec. 4. He said the ladders were kept to the side of his carriage house and he noticed they were gone when he looked that morning. No suspects.

SHOPLIFTING

A man and a woman who were arrested for shoplifting at Kohl’s at Rhode Island Mall on Nov. 29 were also charged with violating a no contact order against each other. Officer Thomas Duncan said loss prevention recovered $66.57 worth of goods from Andrew Palin, 27, of 62 Francis St., Woonsocket, and $106.09 worth from Elisabeth E. Peixoto, 29, of 55 Second St., East Providence. Palin was additionally charged for the no contact order; Peixoto was additionally charged with giving police a phony name.

Tammy Paiola, 42, of 30 Audubon Lane, Hope, was charged with stealing $60 worth of goods from the JC Penney store in Warwick Mall on Nov. 26. She was later released with a summons.

A West Warwick woman was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 26 and charged with shoplifting and with two counts of failing to appear in District Court. Loss prevention at the Walmart on Bald Hill Road gave police a video of Kiri Ellis, 20, of 35 Brayton St., concealing cosmetics in her purse before walking out without paying for them. She was transported to District Court for arraignment.

William Thomas Richards, 52, of 600 Warwick Ave., was charged with shoplifting from the Walmart on Post Road on Nov. 30. Loss prevention told police they saw him conceal $269.30 worth of men’s sox and underwear, DVDs and electronics on his person before leaving the store without paying for them. He was later released with a summons and a warning not to go back to the store or be arrested for trespassing.

Officer Stephen Major reported he was dispatched to Macy’s in Warwick Mall for a shoplifting suspect on Dec. 1. Loss prevention told him that Yvonne Mae Cooper, 61, of 13 Deangelis St., Narragansett, concealed 18 items of clothing and altered price tags on other items before she left the store. She was held for the bail commissioner due to another shoplifting charge earlier this year.

Raymond M. Ireland, 48, of 14½ Pond St., West Warwick, was charged with stealing after police were sent to Warwick Mall for a shoplifting in progress on Dec. 1. Loss prevention told dispatch the suspect had run onto Route 295 on foot. The man was quickly located and returned to the store where he was positively identified as the suspect and then taken to headquarters, where he was charged with stealing $37.94 worth of goods that were not recovered. He was later released with a summons.

Officer Jason Cooke reported he went to the Haxton’s Liquors on Bald Hill Road around 4:40 p.m. on Nov. 27 to take custody of a man accused of stealing a bottle of Hennessy Cognac worth $30.89. Employees at the store said a second suspect also stuffed a bottle of cognac in his pants and ran out of the store but managed to get in a car and drive off before they could catch him. The suspect they had, identified as Corey Michael Langley, 21, of 215 Providence St., West Warwick, claimed he didn’t know the other suspect beyond that he was called “Junior” and lived in West Warwick.

On Nov. 29 police were back at Haxton’s to have clerks identify Kristopher Almeida, 35, of 8 Audrey St., Providence, as the person who fled the store with a bottle of Absolut Blueberry Vodka. Almeida told police he threw the bottle away when he was chased and that they could find it near the Target store. The bottle was recovered and Almeida was later transported to Kent Hospital for evaluation after he made some suicidal comments at headquarters.

Alexis Michelle Burton, 30, of 82 Reed St., Warwick, was charged with shoplifting at Kohl’s at Rhode Island Mall on Nov. 26. Loss prevention told police she and her friend, identified as Sherri O’Rourke, 33, of 24 Sundance St., Warwick, concealed merchandise in their shopping carts and left the store without paying for the goods. They said they recovered $123.97 worth from Burton and $77.49 worth from O’Rourke. They were later released with summonses.
