DISORDERLY

A 38-year-old Warwick woman was charged with disorderly conduct and vandalism on Sept. 26 after a number of witnesses identified her as the woman who yelled at and kicked a car that was traveling down her street. Officer Jacob Elderkin said he spoke with a Cranston man who said he got lost while looking for Iggy’s and was driving down Hewett Street when a woman started yelling at him and threatened him with a bottle and kicked the passenger side of his car. He said the woman’s boyfriend came out of the house and threatened to “rip his head off.” He said officers located the woman, who told police the man was speeding down the street and that she did yell at him but did not kick his car. Elderkin said the woman’s boyfriend came out and was yelling at police and was told to lower his voice. Elderkin said they located three separate witnesses who confirmed the Cranston man’s version of events and said he was not speeding but doing around five miles per hour when his car was kicked, but said they wanted to remain anonymous because they were afraid of the people who lived at 25 Hewett St. Stacy L. Goodenough, 38, of that address was arrested, processed and later released with a summons.

TRAILER BREAK

Officer Randy Francis reported he and several other officers were dispatched to West Natick Road around 5 a.m. on Sept. 27. Dispatch then updated the call and said a man was trying to break into a trailer but was being detained by another man, who was holding him and said, “This is the guy,” when police arrived. Francis said he read the suspect his rights and asked him what he was doing and he told Francis he was looking for gasoline for his truck.

The man who grabbed him said it was his trailer and that he was leaving for work from Extended Stay America when he saw the red pickup truck by his trailer and drove up behind it when he saw the suspect coming out of the trailer with gloves on and saw some of his tools in the back of the pickup truck. He said the suspect apologized and put the stuff back but he called 911 because he broke the latches on the trailer and it would cost $1,000 to repair.

Francis said the man’s partner told the identical story and said the suspect “kept apologizing. Can’t go back to jail…” He also said the locks would cost $1,000 to repair. Francis said he arrested Scott Johnathon Blakney, 45, of 53 Rebecca St., Coventry, who was charged with larceny, vandalism and arrested on a warrant for failure to appear for non-support charges. He was remanded to the ACI. According to court records, he was on four years probation for a burglary charge in 2011.

SHOPLIFTING

Christopher R. Differ, 33, of 11 Beck St., Attleboro, Mass., was arrested and charged with stealing $370.15 worth of merchandise from the Walmart store on Post Road on Sept. 28. Loss prevention told police he was filling a tote bag with items even as they were calling police. They pointed him out to police as he was leaving the store. He was later released with a summons.

Gregory T. Bone, 25, of 54 Massachusetts Ave., Warwick, was arrested and charged with stealing $38.89 worth of goods from the same Walmart the day before. Police were dispatched to the store around 9 p.m. for a shoplifting in progress and Officer James Wenneman reported he stopped Bone outside and recovered an 8-inch filet knife and a cell phone case he didn’t pay for. He was later released with a summons to the North Attleboro police, who had a warrant for his arrest.

Officer Christian Vargas was sent to the Sears store in Rhode Island Mall on Sept. 27 to take custody of a Hopkinton man that Loss Prevention accused of stealing two boxes of men’s cologne and a shirt worth $110.04. John J. Rouleau, 22, of 15 Wood River Dr. was later released with a summons.

Officer Aaron Steere reported he was doing a speed detail around 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 24 when he heard a dispatch about a shoplifting in progress at Kohl’s at Rhode Island Mall; a loss prevention agent was having a hard time with a suspect. He said loss prevention was leading him back inside when he arrived and he had calmed down. He said John Cole, 41, of 915 Tower Hill Rd., North Kingstown, was charged with stealing a pair of jeans worth $58. He was held for the next session of District Court because of his priors.

Officer Stephen Major arrested a suspected shoplifter at Macy’s on Sept. 24 after loss prevention told him he as seen concealing a $148 pair of jeans before he walked out of the store without paying for them. Daniel Cornell, 22, of 11 Old Summit Rd. in Greene, was later released with a summons.

Troy A. Dipanni, 42, of 30 Howard Ave., Cranston, was charged with felony shoplifting on Sept. 24 after loss prevention at the Walmart at Rhode Island Mall told police he concealed several watches and a flashlight on his person before leaving the store without paying for them. He was charged with felony shoplifting and violating his probation for shoplifting imposed last year.

Joshua Davis, 24, of 26 McCann Place, Providence, was charged with shoplifting on Sept. 25 when loss prevention at Macy’s told police he attempted to run out of the store with arms full of clothing he hadn’t paid for. Officer Stephen Major reported he saw the man come out of the store and ordered him to stop but he continued to run as Major gave his location to other officers who did capture him and, after a brief struggle, secure him in the rear of a cruiser. He was charged with stealing $1,045 worth of clothing. They also had video of Davis stealing $270 worth of goods the same day. Major said he already had a woman in custody he grabbed outside the store before the man came out. Ebony Smith, 25, of 36 Roger Williams Dr., Providence, was charged with shoplifting and possession of an oxycodone tablet found in her purse.

CHUMP CHANGE

Officer Christian Vargas reported he was dispatched to Domino’s Pizza at 876 Post Rd. around 10:20 p.m. on Sept. 24 for a report of a man going through the vehicle of an employee there and her discovering that her phone and wallet were missing. Vargas said he arrived to find the man standing across the street with his backpack open and looking like he was pulling something out and putting it next to a storm drain. He said he approached the man who was cooperative and appeared to be “out of it” and having trouble maintaining his balance. He said the man denied going through cars and said he was just waiting for a bus. He said it was some other guy who was waiting for the bus who went through the mini-van at Domino’s, but witnesses identified him as the man searching the mini-van. Vargas said he read the man his rights and questioned him. The man said he accidentally took down the video screen in the van and didn’t mean to steal them. He said he felt sorry for the owner when he saw a car seat in the van and could have taken a watch and a cell phone if he wanted to. Vargas said he patted the man down and heard a lot of loose change in his front pocket. He said the owner of the van said about $23 was missing from her wallet but he did not find any other money on the suspect. Vargas said he transported the man to headquarters and noticed that he appeared to get more and more high on whatever it was he took and Rescue was called to take him to the hospital, but the man resisted going and had to be restrained and taken out on a stretcher. Richard Manfredo, 30, of 1413 Eddy St., Providence, was charged with larceny and with being a habitual offender and left in the care of Kent Hospital.
