Warwick police have identified Crystal Duran, 34, of Castle St., East Greenwich, as the driver of the car found Saturday morning about 5:45 a.m. in the woods in the area of 536 Potowomut Road.
Captain Brad Connor said that alcohol and speed appear to be factors in the single-car accident that is believed to have occurred shortly before 3 a.m.
Upon arrival on scene, officers found the car against a tree. The car had been operating southerly on Potowomut Road towards the North Kingstown town line just prior to the crash. Duran was transported from the scene to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased by hospital staff. There were no passengers in the car.
Members of the Warwick Police Traffic Division Accident Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and have begun an investigation into the facts and circumstances surrounding the crash.
