On Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., see two films, the 2014 Cuban short Una historia con Cristo y Jesus, or A Tale with Christ and Jesus, and the 2016 U.S. documentary Ivy League Rumba. In Una historia con Cristo y Jesus, two Cuban men who have fallen in love must deal with one's violent childhood and the other's intolerant mother. Filmed at the 2015 Brown University Latin Jazz and Pop Festival, Ivy League Rumba highlights the musical exchanges that have occurred over the past century between Cuba and the U.S.
On Saturday, Oct. 1 at 3 p.m., enjoy the 2016 Argentinean comedy-drama El rey del Once, or The Tenth Man. Returning to Buenos Aires to reconnect with his father, Ariel meets Eva, an independent spirit who helps Ariel to come to grips with the Jewish traditions that once divided him from his father.
On Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m., come for the 2016 U.S. tragic comedy Amores Gatos, or Loves Cats. A quasi-poet who makes a living as a cat-sitter in New York City manages to lose the same cat three times only to realize, when the owners unexpectedly return, that their cat has been replaced by another.
