The Claflin Company and Philip Rizzuto, MD, were honored at the Rhode Island Free Clinic’s annual Founders’ Event. More than 300 guests were in attendance and raised $135,000 for patient care.
“Because of our partnership with Claflin and Physician Champion Philip Rizzuto, MD, the Clinic continues to provide high quality care to Rhode Islanders who need us the most,” said Marie Ghazal, CEO of Rhode Island Free Clinic.
The Claflin Company received the 2016 Founders’ Award. They have provided exceptional philanthropic and technological support to Rhode Island Free Clinic over the past decade.
Philip R. Rizzuto, MD, received the Dr. Steven Brin Physician of the Year Award. He is a dedicated clinic volunteer and educator who was instrumental in establishing an ophthalmology service at the Rhode Island Free Clinic.
Founded in 1999, the Rhode Island Free Clinic at 655 Broad Street in Providence provides comprehensive health care for uninsured low-income Rhode Island adults. Over 2,000 patients receive free on-going comprehensive care through a network of volunteer physicians, therapists, and community partners.
