The Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) Police Department has opened up their recruit selection process for anyone interested in becoming a police officer with the RIAC Police Department. The recruitment application period will end at midnight on Sunday, July 10.
"We are seeking highly motivated, intelligent, and dedicated men and women to apply," said RIAC Police Chief Leo D. Messier.
At a minimum, applicants must: be a U.S. citizen; 18 years of age at the time of application; have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license; have a high school diploma or GED; have a minimum of 60 college credits as of July 10, 2016 from an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education, or three years of full-time police, law enforcement, or corrections experience by July 10, or three years of active military duty as of July 10, or three years of military reserve service as of July 10; and have good moral character.
Preliminary application submissions will be accepted from May 18 to July 10. A physical fitness test will be administered on Saturday, July 23. Following the physical fitness test will be a supplemental employment application, oral interview(s), and an eligibility list will be established. Applicants will then undergo a background investigation as well as medical and psychological examinations, and must complete the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. A one-year probation period will follow, including the FTO program, before permanent appointment as a RIAC police officer.

The airport expansion took over 100 Warwick homes and the tax revenue on all of them...forever. It seems to me the decision makers there could give preference to Warwick applicants if the law allows. This is one of many ideas I have to help the airport authority become a better Warwick neighbor. It's a small step but it would show a willingness to help.

I read the article and see a quote that reads,
"We are seeking highly motivated, intelligent, and dedicated men and women to apply," said RIAC Police Chief Leo D. Messier.
That eliminates the bottom of the barrel that lives here.
Perhaps they can find some close by in Massachusetts or Connecticut.
