Ralph F. Flynn, Jr., D.D.S., age 83, of Main Channel, Warwick, died on January 20, 2013 at West View Health Care Center. He was the husband of Carole B. (Murphy) Flynn.
Dr. Flynn was born in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, the son of the late Ralph F. Flynn, Sr. and Leona (Tetu) Flynn. He was a resident of Warwick Neck since 1957. A graduate of Cranwell Preparatory School, the College of the Holy Cross, and Georgetown University Dental School, he served as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Dental Corps from 1954-1956 at Quonset Point. Dr. Flynn practiced dentistry for 50 years, and maintained an office on Warwick Avenue in Warwick from 1956 to his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the American Dental Association, a past president and member of the Rhode Island Dental Association, and a member of the Kent County Dental Society. He was also a member of Warwick Country Club, a former member of the Rotary Club of Warwick, and a long-time parishioner and Eucharistic minister at St. Kevin Church. He was an avid gardener, and loved his boat, “Open Wide.”
Besides his wife; he is survived by five daughters, Anne C. Flynn of Warwick, Katherine M. Kusior and her husband, Patrick of Londonderry, New Hampshire, Elizabeth A. Carey and her husband, Michael of North Attleboro, Massachusette, Carole K. Stimpson and her husband Paul of Cranston, and Amy E. Flynn of Coventry; five grandchildren, Alysha Stimpson, Aidan Carey, Ethan Kusior, Catie Mae Carey, and Liam Carey; and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Patricia Patjens.
His funeral will be held on Friday, January 25, at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Visiting hours are Thursday 4-7 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.
