Raymond J. O’Brien, 79 of Warwick died Thursday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Judith A. (Sullivan) O’Brien.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Raymond J. and Catherine (Trainor) O’Brien, he had been a Warwick resident for 45 years. Mr. O’Brien was a machinist at Electric Boat for over twenty years. He served in the United States Army at the Rhein-Main Missile Base in Germany during the Berlin War Crisis. Mr. O’Brien was a member of the R.I. Ford Club, The Riverview Association and the American Legion.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Michael T. O’Brien and his wife, Karen of North Attleboro; Paul R. O’Brien and his wife, Christine of Hillsborough, NJ; Matthew T. O’Brien and his wife, Michele of North Kingstown. A sister, Sr. Rose Marie O’Brien, RSM of Cumberland and a brother, Lawrence O’Brien of Kissimmee, FL; his grandchildren, Meaghan, Thomas, Caitlin, Kelsey and Oliver. He was the brother of the late Joseph O’Brien and Kathleen Powell.

His funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin Church, Sandy Lane, Warwick at 10 a.m. Calling Hours Tuesday 5-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
