‘Remembering Our Heroes’ concert is Friday at St. Kevin Church

This Friday St. Kevin Church will host a chorus concert, “Remembering Our Heroes.” The St. Kevin’s and St. Rita’s choruses will combine for the concert that begins at 7 p.m. in St. Kevin Parish.

The National Guard’s 88th Army Band will also be performing at the event and the choruses will be singing an inspirational song, “All is Well.”

Although admission is free, a good will donation is encouraged. The donation will go towards the Memorial Garden at Bishop Hendricken. The garden honors Hendricken alumni who made the ultimate sacrifice while in the armed services.

Currently, the garden has a flagpole and granite memorial with the names of three fallen soldiers, but the goal is to have a prayer space, a large garden and a statue of Jesus welcoming fallen soldier into heaven.

Reverend Robert Marciano, pastor of St. Kevin, said he is asking people to be “generous” to the garden.

“We can never repay the debt to those who serve our country to keep us free, especially those who have made the ultimate sacrifice,” he said.

He said St. Kevin is a “patriotic parish” that hopes to pass on the stories of military service men and women to future generations.

“We still live in a dangerous world,” Marciano said. “We must keep our prayers with military men and women and their families.”
