Remote access to court dockets now possible

Posted

Starting Dec. 5 the general public gained remote access to court dockets for all case types within the Rhode Island Judiciary. Up to this point, only criminal dockets have been remotely available to the public on the site known informally as "CourtConnect."

This availability coincides with the implementation of Phase 4 of the judiciary's conversion to its new case management system. Supreme Court appeals and all criminal cases will be in the new system. Civil, domestic relations, workers' compensation and traffic cases were converted in earlier phases in 2014 and 2015.

This means the public will be able to look up cases, learn hearing dates and identify what documents have been filed. Remote public access does not require any registration.

To reach the Public Access Portal, go to publicportal.courts.ri.gov/PublicPortal.

For information on how to view dockets and other newly available features, go to www.courts.ri.gov/Pages/access-caseinfo.aspx.
