Rev. Lincoln A. Smith, Sr., age 92, former pastor of the Lakewood Baptist Church in Warwick, died on May 15, 2013 in West Springfield, Massachusetts. He was the husband of the late A. Charlotte (Irwin) Smith. Rev. and Mrs. Smith were married for 67 years.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of the late Milton and Helen (Ball) Smith, he was ordained to the ministry on November 11, 1946. Rev. Smith served as the pastor of Lakewood Baptist Church for 23 years, retiring in 1988. He was a chaplain for the Warwick Fire Department for over 30 years and a former chaplain for the Somerville, Mass. Fire Department for 9 years. He also served as chaplain for the Civil Air Patrol, Lakewood Unit. He was a member of the RI Baptist Convention, and served on various committees. He was a former president of the Warwick Clergy Association. Rev. Smith organized Boy Scout Troop 49 Lakewood, and received the Boy Scout Good Shepherd Award from the Boy Scouts of America. Prior to coming to Lakewood Baptist Church, Rev. Smith held pastorates at the First Baptist Church in Hampton, New Hampshire, Trinity Baptist Church in Providence, Union Baptist Church in East Killingly, Connecticut, and First Baptist Church in Somerville, Mass.

He is survived by two sons, Lincoln A. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Warwick, and Rev. Robert Smith and his wife, Deborah of West Springfield, Mass., a daughter, Dr. Judith Houle and her husband, Thomas of Belchertown, Mass.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was the twin brother of the late Rev. Robert M. Smith.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lakewood Baptist Church, Atlantic Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, May 21, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of Lakewood Baptist Church. A Memorial Service will be held at First Baptist Church, 337 Piper Road, West Springfield, MA on Thursday, May 23, at 7:00 p.m.
