Richard Henry Abramson, 87, died Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Rhode Island Veterans Home, Bristol. He was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie H. (Hudson) Abramson.

Born in Providence, the son of the late Henry N. and Alma H. (Petersson) Abramson and brother of the late Eunice (Abramson) Tuckerman, Dick grew up in Pontiac Village, Warwick and graduated from Lockwood High School in 1945. He then enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard USS Clytie until demobilized in 1946.

He earned his living as a distributor for Cott Quality Beverages with his business partner and cousin Dot's husband Malcolm Meyer. Dick married Marjorie Hudson in 1956, and they raised their family in Cranston. He had many passions including golfing, woodworking, making furniture for family and friends, and stealing away to the Green Mountains of Vermont where he shared his wife's passion for skiing. Marge and Dick retired to their hilltop retreat in Weathersfield in 1982. With the passing of his beloved Marge in 2004, Dick consoled himself on the golf course and working in the Okemo Mountain rental shop. When he could no longer live alone, he came to live with his children and then entered into the care of the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol earlier this year.

He is survived by his children: Ruth Riesbeck of Painted Post, NY, Janice Abramson of Portsmouth, VA and Alan Abramson of Warwick; sons-in-law; Mark Riesbeck and William Moore; and daughter-in-law Mabela Abramson; grandchildren: Ian Moore, Caitlin Riesbeck, Allison Moore, John Abramson and Christina Abramson.

Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of life for Richard, to be held at his son Alan's home at 22 Patrick Way in Warwick, on Saturday, October 25th, 2014, 2:00 until 5:00.

After cremation, Richard joined his wife Marjorie, scattered in their favorite places in Vermont and Rhode Island. The family will also hold a private interment at St. Paul Cemetery in Warwick.
