Richard M. Hanchett, 79, died Thursday, February 2, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Patricia A. (Rego) Hanchett.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, a son of the late Mather and Marion (Limmer) Hanchett, he had been a resident of Warwick for most of his life. Mr. Hanchett started his professional career as a civil engineer before becoming a software engineer. He had worked for C.S.C. in Newport and at Electric Boat, where he worked on submarine computer systems for 20 years. He was an avid stamp collector, focusing on stamps from Portugal and India. Richard traveled around the world seven times. He was a member of the Rumford Grange for 65 years and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

He was the father of Helen M. Deming, and the stepfather of Beth Osborne; grandfather of Stephen and Kevin Deming and Pauly, Allen and Amber Clement; brother of Grace Johnson and the late Linda Murray.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Requiem Eucharist, Monday, February 6 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mark Episcopal Church, Warwick. Visiting Hours respectfully omitted.
