Robert A. Harrod, Sr.

Robert A. Harrod, Sr., age 89, of Chambly Avenue, Warwick, died on Monday, March 14, 2016, at home. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth G. (Chace) Harrod.

Born in Cranston, a son of the late William H. and Hazel A. (Kingston) Harrod, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Harrod was a delivery person for Action Auto Parts in Providence for 5 years after retiring from State Battery in 1991, where he worked for 25 years. A lifetime member of Warwick West Side Little League, he was also a member of RI Senior Softball, and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by two daughters and a son, Diana L. Mackie and her husband, Paul, of Warwick, Robert A. Harrod, Jr. and his wife, Jeannine, of Interlachen, FL and Deborah A. Alves and her husband, David, of Harrison, ME; a sister Hazel Quartaro of Cranston; eleven grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. He was the brother of the late William H. Harrod, Norman E. Harrod, Evelyn Ryan, and Beatrice Femino.

His funeral will be held on Friday, March 18, at 11 a.m. in the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick. Burial with military honors will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Visiting hours will be on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
