Robert K. Fortier, 78, passed away Friday, August 15, 2014 at RI Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Gwendolyn L. (Farrell) Fortier.
He was a son of the late Kenneth J. and Mary E. (O’Rourke) Fortier. An electrician for 36 years, Mr. Fortier was a member of the IBEW Local #99 for over 50 years and an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was past Exalted Ruler of Warwick Elks #2196, Past District Deputy, Grand Exalted Ruler West. Bob was instrumental in combining Lodges #14-Providence, #920-Pawtucket, and #2196 Warwick to what is now know as Tri-City Elks #14. He was Trustee Chairman for many years and most recently Trustee Emeritus.
He was the father of Robert K. Fortier, Jr. (Lisa), Kevin M. Fortier (Cheryl), and Stephen E. Fortier (Kelley); brother of Edward Fortier and the late Joan Crowther. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Elise, Taylor, Cameron, Ashley, David, Andrew and Emily.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 9 a.m. from the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Home, 2435 Warwick Ave. with a service in Living Faith Christian Church, 1201 Greenwich Avenue at 10 a.m. Burial with military honors in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m.
