Robert Reinert Bentsen, 84, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, October 28, 2014. He was the loving husband of Carolyn R. (Charette) Bentsen. They were married for 61 years.

He was the son of the late Hans Selmer Bentsen and Gladys (Gannon) Bentsen. Mr. Bentsen was a member of the Warwick Police Department for 25 years, and retired in 1980 with the rank of Captain. A United States Army veteran of the Korean War, he served as a tank commander.

In addition to his wife, he leaves three children: Barbara A. Thornton; Robert M. Bentsen, Retired Det. Sgt., Warwick PD; and Geraldine M. Dubois. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

His funeral was held on Saturday, November 1, from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Burial with military honors was in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
