The Don Rodrigues Karate Academy of Warwick captured 12 trophies with just six students competing at the Mid-Connecticut Karate Championships in Milford, Conn., earlier this month. World Champion Dante Rodrigues captured first place in Open Forms, second place in Open Weapons and the Overall Junior Black Belt Forms Grand Championship at the event. Other students capturing trophies from the Academy were: Ashley Lima first in Forms, first in Weapons, second in Open Forms; Louise Therrien first in Weapons, second in Forms, second in Fighting; Dawn Kempf first place in Weapons; Kate Warrington first place in Fighting; and Niko Rodrigues third place in Fighting.
