Romney is only potential GOP candidate

To the Editor:

Donald Trump is leading in the polls because he has been on national TV for decades and he has a loyal following of 3 million or 4 million fans nationwide. In the debates and at campaign events, Trump is putting on a TV reality show and his fans and the media love it.

Conservative Republicans are upset because nothing is getting done in Washington. Trump has never shown that he could work with the United States Congress, in regular order, to pass meaningful legislation. Trump’s proposals cannot be accomplished because he would never get congressional or judicial approval. The press should be asking Trump to name some competent individuals who would be willing to be in his cabinet or on his national security team. No competent conservative individuals would be willing to work with Trump. He is too thin-skinned.

There is only one potential Republican candidate for president who could get things done in Washington and produce a workable foreign policy. That potential candidate is Mitt Romney. As governor of Massachusetts, Romney worked with Democrats to produce the best health care system and the best education system in the United States. As head of the 2002 Winter Olympics, Romney worked with the leaders of hundreds of foreign nations during the 9/11 crisis to produce the most successful Winter Olympics in history. As a pastor in his church, Romney has worked with the elderly, the poor and the disadvantaged for long periods of time.

You want Romney? He isn't running. His clone Jeb is though. Get out there and start campaigning for a winner from a proven family of winners.

A viable GOP candidate is essential to prevent the disgrace of a Clinton "dynasty"- the last thing this nation needs is another unqualified, scandal-ridden lying fraud after Obama's damage.

In a brokered Convention, Romney will be nominated and he will win the nomination and become the Republican nominee for President of the United States.

In a brokered convention, Warren Harding would be hard to beat.
