Ronald L. Monahan, Sr., age 86, of Warwick, died on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Avalon Nursing Home in Warwick. He was the husband of Kathleen “Dee Dee” (McMahon) Monahan.

Born in Hempstead, Long Island, New York, a son of the late Edward M. and Anna V. (Fairsnider) Monahan, he lived in Warwick for most of his life. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

Mr. Monahan was a co-owner, with his brother Edward, of the former Monahan Television & Appliance store on Post Road in Warwick. He was later self-employed in the sale and installation of television antennas and satellites.

Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, Ronald L. Monahan, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca Monahan, D.V.M., of Boulder, Colorado, a daughter, Shirley A. Monahan of Warwick; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Susan M. Monahan Johnson; and the brother of the late Edward J. Monahan and Elizabeth A. (Monahan) McMahon.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, April 30, at 10 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, 135 Beach Avenue, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited, and may visit at the funeral home on Thursday from 8:30-10 a.m.

Burial with military honors will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to St. Benedict Church.
