Going Bold at Rocky Point

BoldrDash, a 5K race that incorporates obstacles of varying difficulty throughout the course, with tube crawls, parallel bars, tire hurdles, rope climbs, monkey bars, wobble boards and much more, made full use of Rocky Point on Saturday by transforming the park with its amusement park type event. Mayor Scott Avedisian, State Representative Joe Solomon and others were on hand to greet the nearly 1,500 participants and the estimated 500 spectators who came to the park to cheer them on.  BoldrDash attempts to make everything about the race attainable and that, regardless of skill level, there was something for every participant. Created by Lynne Hall, a certified personal and group trainer who has a passion for helping people achieve goals, races like these assist local non-profit organizations monetarily, including the newly formed organization Find Your Bold, which focuses on increasing self-worth and self-esteem through physical activity and human interaction. Since running the first BoldrDash in 2011 at Yawgoo Valley, I've always wanted to get back into doing these kinds of personal challenges. Lynn's courses are as difficult as you need them to be to test your mettle and your will to finish. I strongly support this great event returning to Rocky Point for years to come and seeing more innovative uses for our public land that gets the community out, in shape, and building personal pride and a sense of accomplishment.
