Warwick resident and home developer Hugh Fisher points to land bordering Rocky Point Avenue that he intends to give to the city creating a greenway to Meadowview Avenue. In total, Fisher would be giving 109 lots that make up 18 acres. Fisher acquired the property with the purchase of a realty company. Taxes had not been paid on many of the properties and the city has held tax title on them for years. Also, much of the land is wetlands. Fisher’s donation would give the city clear title and, as Mayor Scott Avedisian points out, provide a connector between the Meadowview bike and walking path and access to Rocky Point. Last Thursday, Fisher, his wife and daughter were joined by the mayor, Lisa Primiano of the Department of Environmental Management, Councilman Ed Ladouceur, Rep. Joseph Solomon Jr., and Senator William Walaska for a look at the property. The gift, which Fisher said was suggested by the planning department after he had gifted six lots to make the Meadowview path possible, will require City Council approval. (Warwick Beacon photo)
