Samuel M. Holtzman, 59, of Warwick passed away on August 17, 2013 at home. He was the beloved husband of Marilyn E. McKeever.

Born in Sharon, Massachusetts, he was a son of the late Herman and Laura (Ventura) Holtzman. Mr. Holtzman had been an adjunct faculty member of the Math/Physics Department of New England Institute of Technology since 1986. He was an educator for the City of Warwick School Department serving as a Science Educator at Pilgrim High School from 1980 until 2001, Science Department Head at Gorton High School until 2006 and Science Department Head at Toll Gate High School and Winman Junior High from 2008 until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of the Warwick Teachers Union, serving as president from 2006-2008.

Sam was a graduate of Barrington College, received his Masters of Education-Secondary School Administration from Providence College in 1991 and his Masters of Science in Labor & Industrial Relations from University of Rhode Island in 1999. He was a Saxophonist in the Rock & Roll dance band, “New York Minute.” His greatest and proudest role was that of father to his three daughters and husband to his wife Marilyn. He was a fine example of an educator, leader, friend, husband, father and musician.

He was the loving father of Laura M. McKeever-Holtzman of Brooklyn, New York, Jessica L. McKeever-Holtzman of Warwick and Samantha E. McKeever-Holtzman of Warwick. Cherished brother of Joseph Holtzman, Stan Holtzman, Esta Barcohana, Virginia Holtzman, Reba Holtzman, Cynthia Holtzman, David Holtzman and Robert Holtzman.

His funeral will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 8:45 a.m. from The Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Thursday from 4-8 p.m.
