Second threatening letter sent to Warwick, Cranston and Johnston schools

Posted

A second written threat on Johnston, Cranston and Warwick schools has been received by Johnston Police. According to Col. Stephen McCartney, Warwick police chief, a press release agreed upon by the police chiefs of the three communities will be issued shortly. Also, he said, the plan is to notify parents of the latest threat.

Mayor Scott Avedisian said Warwick police would have a "continued presence" at schools at opening and closing times.

He said this letter was "not specific" in that it did not reference a beheading, as did the first letter, or another action against students. He said from the hand writing, the letter appeared to be written by the same person.
