Scott School, like other elementary schools across the city, was a beehive of activity yesterday as principals and teachers returned to prepare for the opening of schools September 2. It was the first day elementary teachers were allowed back in the buildings after the summer hiatus. For Virginia Bolano, who is the system’s “senior principal” – she has been a Warwick principal since 1990 – the morning was filled with greeting teachers, the occasional parent and, as it turned out, digging through more than a month of accumulated mail. Bolano has no intention of retiring anytime soon. “Gosh, no,” she said when asked if this might be her last year, “I’ve got many years to go.” Besides, she added, she loves it in Warwick.
