To the Editor:
A group of leaders living in Warwick is trying to make Rhode Island better by focusing on what makes our community great. Now, we want your input on the best parts of our city.
Please join us Thursday night, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Bishop Hendricken High School to add your perspective to a discussion about Warwick’s strengths. We’ll spend time introducing you to what we find makes our city excellent. Then, you can contribute by sharing your own ideas and voting on our most outstanding people and organizations.
Why are we doing this? Thursday’s session is part of Recasting Rhode Island, an initiative sponsored by Leadership RI (LRI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving our state through leadership development.
The initiative has two main goals. First, we want to increase morale statewide by focusing on what’s great about Rhode Island instead of continuing to dwell on the state’s shortcomings.
Second, we plan to share the results of our session with the 10 other LRI teams throughout Rhode Island. We believe that in this exchange communities will learn from each other and find mutual benefits by sharing strengths. Perhaps the leaders in another community will hear about our outstanding Police Athletic League youth programs and reconsider what their city or town offers for its children. Likewise, we in Warwick can learn from what other communities do exceptionally well.
So come to Hendricken on Thursday and let your voice be heard. You’ll meet people who love Warwick and Rhode Island, learn more about LRI and help shape a positive dialogue about out great city and state. If you have questions, please e-mail us at lriteam8@gmail.com. You also may like us on social media at www.facebook.
