Skin cancer is the most common of all cancers; more than 600,000 Americans are affected each year, a number that is rising rapidly. It is also the easiest to cure if diagnosed and treated early. When allowed to progress, however, skin cancer can result in disfigurement and even death.

To assist the public in spotting potential skin cancers, Kent Hospital is offering a free skin screening on Thursday, May 22, 6-8 p.m. in the hospital’s Outpatient Services. There is no fee for the initial screening

Dermatologists on staff at Kent Hospital will perform full body screenings. The program is sponsored by the hospital’s cancer program and backed by the American Academy of Dermatology. Registration is required. Please call 737-7010, extension 31857 or email lmillerick@kentri.org with your name and phone number by May 15. Space is limited.

To locate Outpatient Services enter through the hospital’s main entrance, walk through the main lobby, down the ramp and Outpatient Services will be on your left. A hospital staff member will be there to assist.
