In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the CVS Health Downtown 5K held this past weekend a special gathering on the State House lawn Sunday that honored the “CVS Health Downtown 5K Dashers,” a group of runners who have participated in every Downtown 5K since its 1990 inception. The Dashers were presented with a commemorative 25th anniversary shirt from Eileen Howard Boone, senior vice president of corporate social responsibility and philanthropy for CVS Health, and Charlie Breagy, long-time race director and one of the founders of the Downtown. From left to right are Breagy, Warren Alper of Burrillville, Fred Zuleger III of Coventry, David Dean of Cranston, Susan Dean of Cranston, State Representative Joseph McNamara of Warwick, Barry O’Brien of Warwick, Dave Farrell of Barrington, Barry Elfstrom of Chepachet, and Howard Boone. Missing from the photo is CVS Health Downtown 5k Dasher Richard Sullivan from Osterville, Mass. (Submitted photo by Constance Brown Photography)
