Johnston High School’s “Suds Challenge” will continue – weather permitting – this Saturday, Oct. 22, in the 7-Eleven parking lot off Hartford Avenue (Route) 6 near the entrance to War Memorial Park.

Back on Saturday, Oct. 7, the “Sophomore Suds Challenge” was held to raise funds for the school’s band and chorus to travel to Williamsburg, Va., to participate in the prestigious Music in the Park Festival.

For more than four hours, members of freshmen and sophomore classes who are part of the band and chorus washed a variety of vehicles and even found time for a little fun.

This Saturday, members of the junior class who are in either the band or chorus will be back at 7-Eleven continuing their fundraising efforts for the April 19-23 trek to Virginia.

Pamela Oliveira, who is president of the volunteer, non-profit Johnston School Music Association, said Saturday’s car wash will begin at 11 a.m. and continue through 3 p.m. All donations will benefit the band and chorus trip. Donations may also be made during the event.
