(Studio musicians documentary)

While at the Avon for “Mr. Turner,” we watched a long line forming for “The Wrecking Crew,” a documentary about studio musicians of the late ’50s into the early ’70s.

Knowing nothing about the movie but interested in the music of the era (Glen Campbell, Cher, Herb Alpert, The Mamas and The Papas, The Beach Boys, et al) we decided to check it out Are we glad we did!

The documentary had been in the works for over 10 years and included early interviews with Dick Clark and Glen Campbell. Produced and directed by Danny Tedesco, son of the late musician, Tommy Tedesco, “The Wrecking Crew” tells the story of the unknown musicians who played on hundreds of hit records, never gaining fame but making lots of money.

We see early footage of the musicians and the stars they backed up and learned some interesting facts about the music industry. If you are a fan of music of that era, you will not want to miss this revealing documentary. You’ll also hear some great music.

Rated PG, with a few minor obscenities.
