(True crime story)
Jonah Hill stars as a New York Times reporter who was fired for “embellishing” on a story. When he discovers that an accused murderer (James Franco) has stolen his identity, he ends up being used by the man to tell his story.
Part murder mystery, part psychological head game, “True Story” plays with what is true and what isn’t. Both men use each other for their own gain.
Franco is excellent in his role as a man accused of killing his wife and children, playing mind games with the reporter, never telling the complete “true story” and throwing curves at him, especially when he testifies in his own defense.
Rated R, with profanity and some disturbing scenes of the murder.
