Taco acquires Italian pump manufacturer

The Cranston-based firm Taco has gone international.

Building on a “strategic partnership” announced in November of last year, the Taco Group on Oct. 30 announced that Taco Comfort Solutions has reached an agreement with Askoll Holding srl to fully acquire Askoll Sei, a manufacturer of high-efficiency pumps in Sandrigo, Italy.

John Hazen White Jr., CEO and board chairman for the Taco Group, signed the agreement at Askoll’s global headquarters in Dueville, Italy, alongside Elio Marioni, Askoll’s founder and president.

The company will be known as Taco Italia srl as part of the Taco Group, and will carry the trade name Askoll Flow Solutions. Taco Comfort Solutions is a company of the Taco group, and manufactures a broad range of residential and commercial products.

“With this acquisition, Taco has transitioned from being an American company based in Rhode Island to a global company based in America,” reads a press release from the company.

Taco and Askoll in November 2014 announced a partnership focused on the research and development of new circulator pump designs, along with additional initiatives related to products and marketing.

Hazen White at the time called Askoll a “fine company that shares many of the same values we do.” Marioni, who visited Cranston for the announcement, last year described the partnership as “something that, in my eyes, looks perfect.”
