Jazz guitarist George Benson, jazz singer Roberta Flack, Julio Iglesias and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus closed the season at the Warwick Musical Theatre.

The Cajun and Bluegrass Festival was still at Stepping Stone Ranch in Escoheag for their annual Labor Day festival. Highlight acts included Steve Riley and the Mamou Playboys, CJ Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, Geno Delafose and the French Rockin’ Boogie and the Austin Lounge Lizards.

Twin Oaks had an early bird special from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.: baked stuffed shrimp for $10.

Our favorite TV show was “Spenser For Hire,” featuring RIC grad Ron McClarty as one of the cops.

The hottest shows on Broadway were “Smokey Joe’s Café,” “Showboat” and “Love! Valour! Compassion!”

“Mario & Mary’s Wedding” was the dinner theatre offering at the Westin in Providence ($37.50).

Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” was at City Nights Dinner Theatre in Pawtucket ($22).

Kathye Flanagan presented a children’s concert in Pawtuxet Park.

Kevin Spacey starred in the detective drama “The Usual Suspects.” Mark Harmon starred as a divorced dad in “Magic in the Water.”

“The Falsettos” was the closing play at Theatre-by-the-Sea.

Alias Stage presented three short Chekhov comedies. Cranston’s Hope Pilkington starred in “The Anniversary.”

The Shrine Club in Cranston offered lunch special buffets, featuring soup, sandwich, salad and dessert for $4.75 to the general public.

Stuffies Bar and Grill in Cranston offered a free half-time buffet, plus 15-cent Buffalo wings during Monday Night Football.

Last month I misspelled Ricky Skagg’s last name. Sorry about that, especially since I’m a big fan and should have known better.
