“Toy Story” was the big hit of the season.

The horrible horror movie “Vampire in Brooklyn” was directed by Wes Craven and starred Eddie Murphy. Jim Carrey hammed it up in his second Ace Ventura movie, “When Nature Calls.’ It was as bad as the first. Jodie Foster, Holly Hunter, Anne Bancroft and Charles Durning starred in “Home For the Holidays,” yet another movie about a dysfunctional family.

Providence’s Newgate Theatre chose Jane Martin’s controversial “Keely * Du,” which tackled the abortion issue. Don Jackson and Marilyn Murphy Meardon starred.

Alias Stage presented a wild and crazy “Christmas on Mars” starring Anthony Paolucci, Claire Vadebonceur, Kate Stone and Chris Barnes.

The Ballet Folklorico de Chili was at Rhode Island College. Providence College was producing “Our Town.”

Candidate for Rhode Island Philharmonic Music Director Dorian Wilson provided an “energetic approach” to works by Mozart, Rachmaninoff and Shostakovitch.

The Norwood Inn at 76 Jefferson Blvd. had Monday and Tuesday dinner specials for $7.95.

Jade Dragon at 1982 Warwick Ave. had 38 combination plates starting at $3.10.
